Crystal Palace: Good move to announce a Zaha extension prior to Liverpool
A top star in the English Premier League ends speculations of him leaving the club his at for about a season at least.
Good news for the Eagles ahead of a demanding fixture at home to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side. If you needed to add some confidence before an important clash such as this, this is the way to do it.
The winger was gripped by many rumours with a transfer away from the club but not far from London. Spurs and Chelsea were the top contenders during the summer window, with none of them sealing a deal.
News went on right through till the final day, eventually ending when he moved nowhere and played his first game under Roy Hodgson over the weekend.

Going into their opener, Palace was the least favourite team and were the team who made fewer headlines during the summer transfer window. This led us all to believe Fulham would cause a Palace whitewash.
Fortunately for Roy, his man up front was at the peak of his powers again and added to the scoreboard, when they silenced Craven Cottage by two goals. Such greatness must be rewarded.
Besides the opener last season he was their star player
The opener was just the icing on the cake, for what was on show almost the whole of last season. If Zaha wasn’t hampered with injuries during their fantastic run, they’d have a better end to the horrific start they afforded themselves.
In last season, Zaha led Hodgson’s Palace to an 11th place finish on the English Premier League table. Adding with nine goals and three assists in the 29 games he played, was the work of a player deserving of the Palace Player of the Season award.
It was a must the Eagles kept their most prized possession at the club for another season, while ending all the exit rumours surrounding their main man.
His contract extension
The contract extends his stay till 2023, an extra five-year deal. He will be the highest paid player after getting an increase in wages to the amount of £130k-per-week.
Good work on and off the pitch, while they start the season off better than their previous one. He along with his teammates take on Liverpool on Monday Night Football in their Matchday 2 clash.
