Fantasy players had a mixed bag in the first weekend. Here are some quick hits in our first Top Flight Fantasy Update.

The first week of Fantasy Premier League didn’t see too many of the top players score big points. Salah scored once, Kane’s August curse continues, and forwards, in general, didn’t have a great weekend. In fact, no forwards had over 10 points.

I don’t think we will see that again anytime soon. Let’s see who the top players were last week, what’s happening in the Top Flight League, and who is worth picking up for the second weekend.

Top 5 players last week

5. Jose Holebas (Watford) – 2 assists and the clean sheet in the Hornets win over Brighton.

4. Richarlison (Everton) – A debut brace for the Brazilian made fans who picked him very happy.

3. Benjamin Mendy (Man City) – The World Cup winner returned from injury with two assists, a clean sheet, and the three bonus points.

T1. Roberto Pereyra (Watford) – Who needs Richarlison when you got Roberto Pereyra. Two Watford players in the top five easily one of the biggest surprises from matchday one.

T1. Sadio Mane (Liverpool) – It was Mane’s weekend for Liverpool rather than Mo Salah. For only £9.6mil, the Senegal international is a bargain.

Top Flight league update

The Top Flight has a fantasy league with over 60 players participating, representing 33 countries from across the globe. In first place after the first week is #JassieChronicles of Kenya. The side had a 92-point week with 14 from Richarlison, 11 from Marcos Alonso, and Sadio Mane as the captain. Mane’s captaincy earned the team 32 of the 92 points.

Amongst the staff of the Top Flight, Shanith De Mel leads after a 71-point week. Demons XI’s key players were Mane, Kyle Walker, and Ederson, who earned 16 points as the captain for the week. De Mel is 26th overall. The worst Top Flight writer over the weekend was…yeah….me. Only 44 points.

3 players to pick for week two

3. Ruben Neves (Wolves) – Neves is a mere £5.1mil and his performance in the first week is a good indication he will be Wolves’ top creator.

2. Bernardo Silva (Man City) – Silva scored last weekend against Arsenal and is likely to start against Huddersfield next weekend. He or any other City player is a good shout.
