This did come as a bit of a surprise on Super Sunday. New manager, new men, new ways, same old story? Liverpool with the best performance of the weekend.

Liverpool with an outstanding improvement from last season’s start [Watford 3-3 Liverpool]. Evident as day that the team in red have made Anfield one of the toughest places to come this season.

West Ham with all new and improved, as well as expensive, succumbed to the same failure as their opening day fixture last season. Only that came at the hand of Jose’s United. How they never managed to stop Liverpool was all because of the home side’s doing.

It seems Klopp has perfectly prepped his men for the season ahead, and yes one game’s hard to judge by. However, the manner in which the Reds killed off Manuel Pellegrini’s men, reminding of the time Klopp ended his career at Manchester City.

Salah led the celebrations, with the other African doubling his tally and becoming the first Liverpool player to score on the opening day for Liverpool in three successive seasons, in the last 30 years. Naby Keita played to expectation, while Milner looked like a younger vision of himself.

As much as the Hammers made a statement in the transfer window, they still accomplished the same fate – terrible defeat. Difficult to come to Anfield and try to steal points when the home side spent the most money this summer.
