Three games ended Matchday 1 of the English Premier League. One stalemate, a champions setup and a team setting the pace were all on display today.
The first Sunday of Super Sunday action returned in emphatic style. Out of the six teams taking part in the proceedings – one had to show why they were the league’s previous champions, the other started a new era under their new man at the helm, while another side lived up to their expectations.
In the one other fixture that involved two teams not labelled as one of the top-six sides, played out to the least entertaining match of the weekend, let alone the day. But it was expected with both managers style of play about defensive qualities over attacking fearlessly.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche says he was very pleased with many aspects of his side’s display in their 0-0 draw at Southampton.
