Thibaut Courtois: The Chelsea wantaway gets his Real move to Madrid
Thibaut Courtois is happy as can be. The now former number one of Chelsea, becomes the number one stopper at Real Madrid.
What a move by the Spanish giants. A lengthy spell of back and forth for Spain’s number one de Gea, finally seizes now that Madrid has made their move. Real Madrid probably got the deal of a lifetime, considering the big Belgian is one of the best goalkeepers in the world now.
Easily top three.
It took a while for this to be completed after Liverpool signed Alisson and created a butterfly effect in the transfer window. The transfer was dependant on Chelsea finding a suitable stand in for their outgoing world-class keeper. When their rivals signed the Brazilian, it was then time for the Blues to search elsewhere.
On the eve of deadline day, Chelsea found their man to replace their wantaway, and they let him leave with a, ‘don’t let the door hit you on your way out’ kind of a greeting.
All parties are smiling while Chelsea’s pocket is hurting
Courtois couldn’t care what price he left for, he just wanted be gone already. Madrid pushed hard for the World Cup bronze medalist, because the taste of the berry was sweeter than the amount of the create (You get what I’m saying?).
Chelsea on the other hand, had to get rid. No player is bigger than the club and Thibaut was disrupting the camp, even though there’s a new feel to the club this season. Although, in saying this, Chelsea hasn’t waited around to have a moment of silence for the departure, but rather broke the record for the most expensive keeper signing in the world.
It hurt the pocket but in the same breath, it made a statement to the league and to the player who’s left the club. The stopper signed a lucrative deal, keeping him in Spain for six-years. The fee is still undisclosed, but it was in the earlier stages reported, Chelsea were looking to cash in on him for £35 million.
You would think other clubs would come knocking?
Nope… Not a chance! If the European champions come knocking, no player turns their head in another direction. They get what they want and they get them at almost nothing, most of the time.
If reports are true and Thibaut Courtois left for the small amount of £35m. Theoretically, they’ve only paid £36m for their new man, Kepa Arrizabalaga. When you say the full total of £71m it hurts more. When you look at it smartly, it’s kinda great business, seeing he is pegged to become a world-class stopper.
