The effort in the Europa League
With the fifth-place finish last year, Chelsea enters the Europa League as one of the overwhelming favorites. The others to consider include Arsenal, AC Milan, Marseille, and Villarreal. Chelsea’s midfield alone is enough to be the top favorites to win the Europa League for the second time in the club’s history.
The big question here is what kind of teams will Sarri put out for the Europa League? With games on Thursday’s, it’s unlikely we will see Hazard, Willian, or Kante until the latter stages. This could be the opportunity we see youngsters Callum Hudson-Odoi, Tammy Abraham, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (if he is not on loan with Palace). Chelsea’s trophy chances are big outside the EPL.
Morata’s sophomore season
Mr. Morata decided to change his number from 9 to 29. This was to celebrate the birth of his twins on July 29th. It’s also a nice change of pace with the recent number nine curse at Chelsea. His first season at Chelsea was mediocre with 11 goals in 31 games.
Morata has the potential to be a 15 to 20 goal scorer at the age of 25. Under Sarri, I think Morata can have a great campaign as the top striker, especially with extra service from former Madrid teammate Kovacic.
