Manchester United: Why selling Martial would be a mistake for the club
If the man who’s failed many other Premier League stars fails Martial now, we could see him go in the direction of a rival.
For Mourinho, the most important time is now. He is under pressure after last year’s flaccid season. There has been no league title for him in Manchester, while Guardiola has broken records at City.
He has been backed into a corner, and is now desperate to win, no matter what the cost. United need to make sure that the cost is not their future.
Martial could become a key component of that future. He is one of the best talents in world football today, and it is understandable if he wants to seek out first-team opportunities. The strongest links to the winger has been United’s blue rivals from London, Chelsea.
United fans can only wait and pray that those opportunities come at Old Trafford, but if Mourinho gets his way there may be another stinging “what-if” story down the line for the Red Devils.
