If reports are to be believed, Anthony Martial wants out of Manchester United this summer.

Jose Mourinho is apparently considering the sale of the Frenchman, and this would be a mistake for the club.

The arrival of Alexis Sanchez last year made things complicated for Anthony Martial. Now, instead of alternating a starting spot with Marcus Rashford, he was a barely used substitute.

The lack of playing time was a direct contributor to him being left out of the France World Cup squad. It must have stung the 22-year-old to watch his compatriots win the tournament without him.

Mourinho and United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, have apparently clashed over what to do about the Frenchman. The manager is keen to move Martial on, preferably abroad, whereas Woodward wants to keep him at the club.

If Mourinho gets his way, the club will be making a mistake that could haunt them for years to come.
