Liverpool: Champions League goalkeeper horrors haunt on at Anfield
Almost off and running with the new campaign as teams work hard in preseason preparations, one thing still haunts the Reds from last season’s nightmare ending.
Liverpool fans have allowed the ghost of the Champions League to creep in long after the damage of a trophyless campaign has concluded. In what appears to be one of their best transfer windows to date, also appears to be their preseason where the YNWA slogan gets put to the test.
Not only have they allowed it to return at a time when it’s not needed – but they’ve let it get the better of them. Well most of them! Not all have taken to social media and have whipped out hatred towards a player who is still young, but some have even taken to the gram to support the player, who let’s face it, lost the match in unforgettable fashion.
The ongoing problem of this has taken a lot of attention away from their influential signings made to date and has put a damper on a promising start to what could be, a successful campaign. Four signings made and one or, two errors loom over the new season.
Even other goalkeepers of world-class standard have come out in defence of Karius. World Cup winner, Iker Casillas has backed the keeper and has told trolls to back off, stating he is only human and should be left alone – the damage is done.
Get over it, its human error
Goalkeeper Loris Karius has taken to his phone and made it known his frustration and is now considering his future at the club, after all that has unfolded with the signing of Alisson Becker. The German stopper claims he was unaware the club was in contention of signing a new stopper.
At the moment the Reds have a healthy number of four goalkeepers. Alisson Becker, who will undoubtedly be the first choice. Loris Karius, Simon Mignolet, and Danny Ward, who will all be fighting to be the club’s backup choice.

Other reports claim, one of the three is on route to Leicester City with a deal in place. That’s if they are to lose their number one, Kasper Schmeichel. It is also said that Simon Mignolet has been allowed to leave and has been linked with a move to turkish side, Besiktas and Spanish giants, Barcelona.
If all reports are correct and follow through, Liverpool will be left with an unhappy and mentally unfit number two keeper to back up Alisson. This is far from satisfying and should be addressed by the club as soon as possible.
Business is said to be complete on the incoming side of Liverpool, but the outgoing could see 10 players leave Anfield before the window closes.
