2019 & 2021 Africa Cup of Nations – Cameroon/Ivory Coast

The Africa Cup of Nations will have two changes starting in 2019. They have expanded to a 24 team format and it will be played in the summer instead of the winter. The 2017 winners Cameroon will host in an attempt to defend their title. Egypt was the last nation to win at home and defend AFCON. The fun in Cameroon begins on June 7th. The Ivory Coast will host the 2021 tournament.

2020 OFC Nations Cup – TBD

The Oceania continental competition is the least known and the least exciting. New Zealand will likely win in the final against Papua New Guinea, Tahiti, or Fiji. A spot in the 2021 Confederations Cup will be up for grabs in the 11th edition of this competition.

Euro 2020 – 12 Host Cities

The biggest continental tournament will start on June 12th, 2020 in Rome. The 60th anniversary of the European Championships will take place across 12 different host cities, with Wembley hosting the semifinals and final. France will try and do the same double they completed in 2000. A 35-year old Cristiano Ronaldo will likely still be the main man for the defending European champions Portugal.

2021 Confederations Cup – TBD

As of right now, the 2021 Confederations Cup is happening despite talks of getting rid of the competition as a whole. Qatar will not host the tournament because it will take place during the month of June, meaning another Asian country will host the eight-team tournament. Germany won it in 2017 and can only qualify as the Euro winners or runners-up if France wins it all.

2022 World Cup – Qatar

For the first time ever, the world will convene in Qatar and in November for the World Cup. The 22nd Copa Mundial will likely be the last one to feature 32 teams unless FIFA decides to expand to 48 for this tournament. France and Belgium will be the heavy favorites. Can Europe be dethroned? We have a little less than 1600 days to find out.
