My way-too-early predictions

Russia 2018 gave us a bit of a glimpse at what the future of world football holds. France and Belgium should be considered the powerhouses while Croatia and England are not to be overlooked. Europe showed its dominance in Russia and it will take a serious overhaul from Brazil, Argentina, and the rest of the world to try and snatch the World Cup away from Europe.

Football Manager 2018  is high on Italy, a little too high if you ask me. They have some great young talent coming through, but the inexperience will show in 2022. I don’t think the World Cup will be moved from Qatar and I don’t think Italy will win it. France will go in as the big favorites. As we have all seen though, defending the World Cup is the hardest accomplishment in world football.

If I had to pick a winner today, I would pick Belgium. Their core is only gonna get better and they will be fresh off a successful European Championship run in 2020. I also think that Romelu Lukaku will be the best striker in the world by 2022, something that can propel them to a title.

I do think FM is accurately predicting the teams that will qualify from all the confederations. I can see DR Congo, Mali, Wales, and Jamaica all making an appearance in Qatar. Spain is gonna make it through with Isco and Marco Asensio becoming the backbone of La Furia Roja.
