Anthony Martial could be the first victim of the Mourinho curse if he is to leave Manchester United this summer.

I am convinced Jose Mourinho will be doing a lot of shopping this summer after his comments of the side not being fit enough to fight for the league title and some changes need to be made.

While United add to the ranks, overlooking the players already at the club, players I would say are potentially good enough to become world class. Those players search for a way out. Why not use them instead? Unfortunately for these young players, Jose doesn’t work like that.

Therefore we see the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial chances of becoming household names fade with each player getting linked to the club. There has been no secret in the players, who Mourinho sold and went on to be world beaters all over Europe.

Will there be another case of this with Martial, who was pegged to be one of the world’s best players before signing with the Manchester club back in 2015? Could he be the next Salah… A remembered Chelsea flop, become a Liverpool cult edition? Or the once de Bruyne project gone off, only to become the D in the dynasty being created over at Manchester City.

This has also all been said before and many has heard the cries of the Stamford Bridge people – when they moan the many others who fall in the pool of the above mentioned. United must not follow suit.

Latest news on the Frenchman

Sky Sports and many others reported that Martial was ready to quite United and seek a new venture in his stuttering career. After the reports came to light – the club replied immediately with a statement, they do not want to lose Martial.

This was followed by the player’s agent making a public announcement the player’s entourage and the club has different views for the player’s future. A contract extension has been a thing of ‘non priority’ for Manchester, as stated by the agent talking out.

Taken from the agent’s statement (MUFCScoop):

"Manchester United wants to extend Anthony and does not want him to leave but we do not find agreement for several months. I think that when Manchester United, which is the most powerful club in the world, it must be remembered, does not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is that it does not really want to make it an important player. Its workforce."

This is clear indication the two parties are reading different Martial stories. Two things could come from this. The player gets a massive increase from the club and stays put, no matter what his playing chances look like.

Two, the player moves on to a club abroad rather, trying not to end the love affair with the winger and the fans. The way things are going since before the 2017/18 season concluded, a transfer card will be played in this saga.

A £75 million price tag has been put on the attackers back. Clubs interested are rivals, Spurs and European giants, Real Madrid and PSG. I feel a PSG move could be the strongest possibility.
