The host nation Russia had the smoothest run of all by not having to play any qualification ties to reach the World Cup Finals.

Could it be a short tournament for the hosts, or could it be a long tournament on home soil. Russia has been poised not to make it pass the group stages considering the other competition in the group.

Their opening match will be on the opening night of the world event. They take on the other less favourite, Saudi Arabia on June 19th. This group has been labelled the worst group of the tournament, with two of the lowest ranking teams in FIFA, battling in this group.

Those two teams are Russia and Saudi Arabia. Russia must play above this and use the advantage of the cold home to help them push further than the group stages. It will be most embarrassing to have the same fate as the others who’s hosted previously, and not ventured further than the first stage.
