This season Liverpool has gone from Everton’s rival to Champions League finalists. It took a couple of years for Jurgen’s men to find their groove but now everything has changed.

Liverpool has played beautiful football, plain and simple. There was a time when their defense was the laughing-stock of the Premier League but those days are long gone (with exception to what happened in the Champions League Final).

Jurgen has crafted a powerful defensive force this season led by Virgil van Dijk. There was also the upgrade from keeper Simon Mignolet to the surprisingly capable Loris Karius. In spite of what we saw on Saturday, Karius helped Liverpool end the season 3rd in clean sheets and 4th in goals conceded.

Liverpool’s defense can also seamlessly transform into an attacking force. This is largely thanks to the fullbacks’ long passes and Andrew Robertson’s deadly play up the side. Serving as a speedy wing-back, Robertson was a vital part of Liverpool’s attack contributing 5 assists and a goal.

His left-footed crosses into the box were a big help to the team’s front three this past term.
