Manchester City’s greatest strength was their consistency. This is something the entire chasing pack needs to try to emulate.

There was a run early on in the season, where Liverpool were oscillating around the upper mid-table.

Their lack of consistency early on left them behind the eight-ball, and playing catch-up for the rest of the campaign. Every Premier League winner makes a point of being consistent throughout the season, and it was something Liverpool struggled with.

In fairness to Klopp’s men, the signing of Virgil van Dijk did improve the side’s performances, but at this point they had given themselves far too much to do in terms of a title challenge. City made a habit of ensuring that they beat teams outside the top six.

This point is fed into by other points. If Liverpool can patch up their goalkeeping and defensive issues, and ensure that they have a backup plan for when Salah is unavailable, the consistency should develop naturally.
