Arsenal doing business as reports surfaced, suggesting they have found Wenger’s successor a couple of weeks after the Premier League concludes. Unai Emery is the man being mentioned.

Not who I expected to be announced as the manager but somebody certainly raising an eyebrow here and there after being announced as Wenger junior. Will it be an easy job for the Spaniard to get Arsenal on the right track?

Or will it be the hardest job to get the Gunners back firing in all departments? One attribute certainly standing out above all – his ability to win silverware. In saying this, the once Spanish footballer has big French shoes to fill.

Currently, the Gunners have rusty barrels misfiring and weapons out of ammunition. The job of taking the controls in the battleship is a lot harder than what it could have been a season ago. The North Londoners could have waited a bit too long to make the change.

But he is more than capable of turning around what’s happening at the Emirates. Always and forever will I give the new man the benefit of the doubt. A good choice until proven poor. You know where I’m going with this.

Unai Emery’s waltz to Arsenal’s Emirates stadium

The 46-year-old has seen two successful, and fruitful runs at his previous two clubs, Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla. The latter was where he gained experienced of how to beat English adversaries.

The side he built before leaving for France is still a side who give English sides trouble. Ask Man United, they failed to advance against Sevilla during the knockout stages of the Champions League. His biggest success in Europe with the Spanish side, was winning the Europa League in three consecutive seasons – one of them taking Arsenal’s rivals, Liverpool out with an almost perfect performance.

After achieving this great master stroke – the manager joined the French giants, PSG. Here he was supposed to deliver the one prize which keeps eluding them no matter the amount of money they pay for players. During his time in Paris, Unai took seven trophies home with the club.

His most successful as a manager, but certainly the easiest taking into account, the squad, money, and the Ligue 1 competition. Besides the two successful seasons with the two afore-mentioned, Emery had two gigs where he had no impact on the league. One with Valencia, and the next Spartak Moscow.

Not a bad choice at all

Plenty of experience at top clubs, and playing in Europe’s big events, with a habit of bringing home the goods. A fresh mind with a younger insight on football as it evolves each season. But the reports itself has already received its differences in opinion.

The only pressuring factor of taking the job on – which tests the size of the manager’s (you know the rest) – is Arsenal fan TV. If the news turns gold soon, it will give us the treat of, Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Mauricio Pochettino, Jurgen Klopp, Antonio Conte, Rafael Benitez and Manuel Pellegrini – along with this man, Unai Emery.

What a mouthful and what a privilege it will be to watch the Premier League post World Cup. If these are the managers at the helms of these teams – one can only imagine what transfers we can expect.
