The club began the new calendar year with an unbeaten opening month.  A win away at Swansea was first, with a first league goal for Fernando Llorente being matched by a late Dele Alli finish.

Son scored one of the goals of the season in the next match, with a poor draw at home against West Ham. Pedro Obiang opened the scoring with a remarkable finish from range for the Hammers. However,  the Korean bettered it with his own late strike five minutes from time.

The next game saw Spurs hit Everton for four at Wembley with familiar goal scorers. Kane hit a double, with Eriksen and Son also on target. Spurs were unable to maintain their momentum, and drew away at St Mary’s after Kane’s header.

However, the club ended the month in style with a fine Wembley win over Champions League chasing Manchester United. Eriksen scored the third fastest goal in Premier League history, and an own goal gave the hosts victory.
