Carvalhal’s men sit third last, two points above West Brom, and equal on points with the team they play later this evening.

Every point played for all boils down to this one encounter. A win helps them put pressure on the teams doing far better than them at the moment.

Relegation challengers, West Brom has a tough fight come the weekend when they visit Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace. A win would apply the pressure needed for when the two meet over the weekend.

What stands against Swansea? Their form leading to this important ‘winner takes all’ match has been that of a team who does not deserve a top-flight stay. Two points collected from the last six and a losing run of three games heading into the fourth consecutive loss – gives the Welsh side no right to stay in the league over the others playing for a stay.

A team who were able to score four a game, have now failed to score in three fixtures of their last six. A stat that has been the demise of this team. If this stays the same tonight, Swansea will be the next team to lose the fight. A win puts them back on top of Southampton and sets them up for another important match against Stoke City.
