Transfer news: Burnley player signs for the Rangers on new long-term deal
One player who will not be enjoying the spoils of the labour from a well-performing season by Burnley is, Scott Arfield.
What was a strong possibility of a transfer happening, turned into a pre-agreement on a new long-term deal. Earlier in the week, reports suggested an old Claret was set to exit Turf Moor.
That Claret was midfielder, Scott Arfield. The Huddersfield man was part of a show-stealing Burnley team. From the first day of the campaign – Burnley set their own pace and accomplished their first upset, of what was set to be a season filled of upsetting their opposition.
During their quest to reaching European football – Arfield contributing with 19 Premier League appearances, chipping in with two goals and one assist. Other than his Premier League 19-game participation – the Canadian midfielder only took part in two matches of Burnley’s Cup runs.
With them mostly doing a job of close one-goal football matches – his contribution to their great run has been immense. Arguably, his best two performances this season came back in last yeah in successive games.
The first game was against Watford and the second, Stoke City. He was involved in the only two goals scored across both games – recording a goal in the former, and an assist in the latter. This helped his side collect six points in two fixtures. A proper one man show.

Taken from Sky Sports:
"“Rangers asked us about Scotty Arfield and what his position was,” Burnley boss Sean Dyche said. “Scotty was a boyhood Rangers fan and that one’s pretty simple in its form if they want to speak to him.”"
Arfield was born in Scotland, so it’s no surprise he’d want to join up with a club he’s held close to his heart for many years. Hopefully, he enjoys the same type of success at his new found home and he ends his career on a high note.
