Newcastle 0-1 West Brom

The last-place Baggies are making an epic push to save their season and avoid relegation. A 29th-minute goal from Matthew Phillips secured West Brom’s second win in three games and extends their unbeaten run to four. The goal wasn’t the best highlight of the match. This spectacular Ben Foster save was.

The win keeps West Brom safe, for now. They close the gap to five points between last place and that elusive 17th-place spot in the Premier League table. One loss in their last two matches will ensure relegation for Darren Moore’s men. A win against Spurs at the Hawthorns is absolutely necessary for safety.

The Magpies have dropped two straight and are only three points above the bottom half. Rafa Benitez will travel with Newcastle to Vicarage Road and a date with Watford next Saturday. Newcastle’s safety is clinched, but a top-half finish is not quite in the bag yet.
