A new number one

Petr Cech is a Premier League legend, but well past his best. It is time for a replacement.

A poor defense can be bailed out by a top-class goalkeeper. Their shot-stopping and organization can inspire confidence in the rest of their team. With their calmness, they can sap the belief of the opposing strikers. Cech used to be a goalkeeper who could inspire his team. He was immense during his time at Chelsea.

This season has been a difficult one for the Czech Republic international. He has made six mistakes that have directly led to goals, the most in the Premier League as of writing this.

The uncertainty has started to become evident, and it is time to call time on his role as Arsenal’s primary goalkeeper. They have been linked with both Jan Oblak and Bernd Leno, and need to move quickly to ensure they get a top-class replacement.
