Arsenal 4-1 West Ham

The emotions at the Emirates were a perfect blend of happiness and sadness. It was Arsenal’s first match since the recent announcement of Arsene Wenger leaving the club after more than 20 years of service. On the other hand, Arsenal got an all-important victory over a lackluster Hammers team.

A scoreless first half was followed by a five-goal second half. This volley from Nacho Monreal in the 51st minute gave the Gunners the lead and put a smile on Wenger’s face. Monreal’s first goal in the league since January 30th was a beauty.

After an equalizer from Marko Arnautovic, Arsenal was having fun and scoring more goals past Joe Hart. Aaron Ramsey scored the go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute when his cross got past a confused looking Joe Hart and fell into the back of the net. Hart’s blooper reel gets longer with this clip.

A brace from Alexandre Lacazette settled the 4-1 win and Arsenal sit six points behind Chelsea. The Gunners have a tough week beginning on Thursday with their home leg against Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semifinals. Their away leg on May 3rd will take place after a Sunday clash with arch-rivals Manchester United.

The players now have something to play for at the Emirates, giving a joyous swan song to Arsene Wenger.
