There you have it, Manchester is blue after United failed to beat West Brom in the final match of the weekend in Matchday 34.

The title could have been won back when Liverpool played City’s neighbours United, but failed to beat them inside Old Trafford. From that day on it was only a matter of time before they took the title.

First Liverpool failed, then Manchester City themselves failed in the derby which came almost immediately after. Who would have thought it take the worst team in the league to finish the job for what’s happening over at the other end of the table?

Manchester City’s timing of clinching the title with four games to spare, is one game short of equalling United’s record, and two away from being the first team in Premier League history to clinch the title with six games left.

This new age of football at Manchester City has made them a true contender in the Premier League since 2011. With three titles in the bag, the club is now officially an English and European powerhouse. The title is the fifth overall top division win in the club’s history (1936-37, 1967-68, 2011-12, 2013-14, 2017-18).

This is the city of Manchester’s first Premier League crown in three seasons. Chelsea’s two and Leicester’s 2016 title, halted a four-year streak of Manchester Premier League titles. Since the 2006-07 season, Manchester clubs have won eight titles of the 12 seasons. The dominance of United and City has been spectacular.

With the trophy in the bag, the Citizens next task will be to break the EPL wins and points records. With 28 wins, Guardiola’s side needs just three more in four games to break the wins record set by Chelsea last season.

The three wins City needs to break the wins record would also break the points record set at 95 (Chelsea in 2004-05). If they can muster up 13 more points, they will become the first side in Premier League history to hit the century mark.

They currently have the chance to end on 102 points – if they win all of their remaining Premier League fixtures. Manchester City was by far the best team all season.

Pep Guardiola came in and brought in depth with a mix of veteran talent and youth. The emergence of Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, and Gabriel Jesus can make this team a dynasty.

They have plenty of money to buy players they need to upgrade them. They are built for the present and the future.

Congratulations to the new Premier League title holders, Manchester City
