Burnley 2-1 Leicester

Burnley got off to an incredible start in this mid-table clash at Turf Moor. Chris Wood gave the Clarets the lead in the sixth minute. A second goal happened just three minutes later off a corner kick. Kevin Long headed it in past Kasper Schmeichel for his first career Premier League goal.

Jamie Vardy gave Leicester a goal in the 72nd minute to keep them in the match and in the running for points. The goal was his fifth in the last five games for the Foxes to give him 17 on the season. It wasn’t enough. Burnley have won five straight now, the first time they have done that in the top flight. Sean Dyche and his men have had the best season in Clarets history.

Burnley’s win puts them two points behind Arsenal, who play at Newcastle tomorrow. Leicester is now nine points behind seventh-placed Burnley with 43 points. The Foxes three losses during the Clarets winning streak is the cause of this swing in the standings. Claude Puel will be happy that Jamie Vardy is in such fine form. The team, however, is not. Both teams are back in action on Thursday. Leicester host Southampton and Burnley host Chelsea.
