Matchday 33 had two derbies with six matches sandwiched in-between. The title was up for grabs and so were points to move up in the table.

The Premier League season rolled along with a full slate of matches to begin Matchday 33. The first one of the day pitted the blue-half of Merseyside against the red-half of Merseyside. Jurgen Klopp decided to give his stars Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino a deserved day off while Everton was seeking a much-needed win.

Everton 0-0 Liverpool

The Merseyside Derby kicked off what would be an epic day of Premier League action. The first half was competitive since Liverpool gave a majority of their front three a weekend off after a huge win in the Champions League. This stop from Loris Karius was the highlight of the first half as Everton got three shots off compared to Liverpool’s seven.

The match ended in a stalemate with Liverpool clearly missing Mo Salah in this game. Everton had two late chances to steal the match and win. Both were wide of the net as Everton remain in a mid-table position and will need to wait longer for a win against Liverpool.

The draw is Liverpool’s tenth and Everton’s eighth on the season. Klopp and his side sit in 3rd with just five matches to play. All we found out in this match was how vital Liverpool’s attack is when they all play together. On the bright side for Liverpool, Karius had another good performance as his form has steadily risen to that of a solid number one keeper.

Everton stays in ninth on 41 points. The Toffees will be at Swansea next Saturday.
