Matchday 30 in the Premier League began with one of the biggest games in league history. The day continued with six more matches that featured some spectacular goals and wild scenes.

Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool

The 200th meeting between Man United and Liverpool started fast out of the gate. Both teams looked deadly going forward chasing for second place in the table. Manchester United got the dream start with a sensational goal by Marcus Rashford. In Rashford’s first start since Boxing Day, he scored his first Premier League goal since December 10th.

Rashford scored a second just ten minutes later with an almost identical finish. His second goal was his sixth of the season, giving him a new career-high for a Premier League campaign.

Liverpool had a few chances in the remainder of the first 45. They lacked the final run to get through on goal. Juan Mata almost scored from a bicycle-kick to make it 3-0 to the Red Devils.

Liverpool made second-half adjustments and had a majority of the chances and possession for the first 15 minutes of the half. They were rewarded in the 67th minute as Eric Bailly’s backheel went past David De Gea for an own goal.

Manchester United went into the usual Mourinho shell in the second half and gave Liverpool all the chances. The rest of the half was full of rough, nippy challenges. Parking the bus worked out for Mourinho as United held on at Old Trafford and took control of second place.

The Red Devils sit five points clear of their bitter rivals with eight games to play. After the loss, Jurgen Klopp will likely put more emphasis on the Champions League with the top two further from sight.
