Liverpool did over and above to enjoy an easy return leg at home. Five goals to no answer is the gain the Reds boast while Porto prays day and night for some luck.

If Klopp’s team had only managed a slender lead against Porto of one, or two goals, there’d be some worry during the previous game and tonight’s return leg.

The worry would have been, would Liverpool have seen out the two-goal lead before the 90 minutes ended? Or, would they have been able to handle the pressure of keeping out Porto by those small margins when they returned to Anfield?

Well the answer, thanks to recent success and form, would have simply been, yes. Yes, it would have been quite straightforward for Klopp to move into the next round of the Champions League.

His side has barely put a foot wrong since their two fails against West Brom, and Swansea City. Against Swansea, was the last time the Merseyside club failed to score – which was back in January on the 22nd.

The last Liverpool have failed to score inside Anfield was last year December, when they drew the game 0-0 to West Brom. Since Porto’s game (2 games ago), the home side has scored six, conceded one, and lost nothing.

This makes it quite difficult to see any sort of upset by FC Porto, when they take on Liverpool later this evening. Even a five-goal benefit is too much for the Reds defence to stuff up.

Porto’s small glimpse of hope

FC Porto’s small ray of light is actually, no ray of light. They have little to no chance of qualifying after their first-game disappointment. It wasn’t the worst performance, but there wasn’t a damn thing getting in the way of the team who was then, the away side.

Although things look like a land of compost when talking the Portuguese side in this Champions League fixture – on the road they’ve also been quite unstoppable. They’ve played four games since playing the Reds, and of those four, two were on the road.

Losing none of the two and scoring eight goals in the process shows some promise. Only problem needing a fix – they’ve allowed two goals in as many.

When you look at the bigger picture and the preparation the Dragons have done until now – you’d see in four games the Dragons have scored a monstrous 15 goals and only let in three.

If that’s nothing to go by – then I don’t know what will be. A lot of self belief and confidence is needed if they want anything from this encounter. Anything less, then the sure result becomes extremely sure and over.
