A stunning day of football brought excitement and drama in the race for the top four and the battle of relegation.

Leicester City 1-1 Stoke City

Xherdan Shaqiri broke the deadlock in the early contest, in the 43rd minute with a low driven strike into the bottom right corner. This is Shaqiri’s third successive game with a goal.

Leicester was able to equalize in the 70th minute as Marc Albrighton crossed it into the box, only to see Jack Butland fumble the ball into his own net. This howler will surely get Gareth Southgate thinking about his number one for the World Cup.

Leicester had numerous chances to put the game away with two chances hitting Butland’s right post. The Foxes 13 corners weren’t enough to steal all three points from the Potters. Paul Lambert earns his third draw in the last four matches but it isn’t enough to move Stoke (19th place, 26 points) out of the bottom three.
