English Premier League: Roundup of the first day of Matchday 27
By Orri Benatar
Here is a quick look at the English Premier League’s first day of matches from matchday 27. Today’s action had late goals, and key results in the relegation battle.
After a Saturday filled with six matches to get Matchday 27 on its way. Five teams walk away from their encounters three points happier -as only one game shared the points.
A action jammed day of football, goals, and drama. No game went without a goal and brought about a lot of movement on the table.
Tottenham 1-0 Arsenal
The North London Derby was scoreline in the first 45 minutes of the game – with the Gunners absorbing too much pressure from their rivals.
Kane was gifted too many opportunities – and punished them minutes after the break. Arsenal’s deadly attack, quite frankly, were dead!
Missing from action and unable to make an impact with their stars on the pitch. Spurs move into third place, and could stay there depending on Liverpool’s and Chelsea’s results.
Wenger fails once again (don’t know many times I’ve heard the saying), and makes his fight for a top-four finish, almost impossible.

Everton 3-1 Crystal Palace
Everton dominated the first half with accurate passing and 63% possession. Both teams looked sloppy in front of goal, and lacked composure defending.
Gylfi Sigurdsson gave the Toffees the lead just seconds into the second half. Niasse added a second just five minutes later, to give Everton a 2-0 lead.
Everton sealed three points from a Tom Davies goal in the 75th minute. Luka Milivojevic added a late penalty for consolation. An impressive performance by Sam Allardyce’s men, separates Everton far from the bottom half.
Everton’s three-goal performance is the first one since, December 18th.
Stoke City 1-1 Brighton
Jose Izquierdo’s 4th goal of the season, broke the deadlock at the Bet365. The goal came out of nowhere in the first half – with Stoke having more than 60% possession to start the game.

The Seagulls lead lasted till the 68th minute, with Stoke’s Xherdan Shaqiri, scoring a beautiful equalizer for his sixth goal of the season.
The Potters had a chance to steal the three points, when Jese Rodriguez was taken down in the box. The ensuing penalty from Charlie Adam was saved by Matthew Ryan, and Adam’s attempt at a rebound after the miss was blocked.
Stoke was a penalty away from moving out of the relegation zone. The draw keeps them in the bottom three, while Brighton is three points safe.
Swansea 1-0 Burnley
Swansea had the slightly better 45 at a foggy Liberty Stadium, against Burnley. Neither side was particularly impressive though. The Swans secured the win with an 81st-minute goal from Ki Sung-yeung, who struck it through the legs of multiple Burnley defenders.
The Swans continue their climb up the table, with five consecutive matches unbeaten. They are now two points clear of the bottom three. Burnley remains in seventh but is winless in the last ten league games.

Man City 5-1 Leicester City
The game started with a two-sided affair, but soon after the halftime break – Man City’s Kun, put the game and the Leicester players to bed.
Four goals in one half – set this man of small statue, apart from some of the big names in the game. Probably the main reason why City’s title bound.
Vardy thought the party was on – when he equalized 24 minutes in the first half. Little did he know – there was a man on the other end able to stop the party with goals. It was a fine performance by a team fighting on all fronts.
