David Wagner and his men give joy to the people of Huddersfield, after returning to town with a ticket in hand for the next challenger. They took down Birmingham with four goals and allowed little room for error.

The game started with a high tempo and had the view of Huddersfield on the front foot. However, when the first goal came – it came from Birmingham’s, Che Adams.

The goal was scored in the first part of the second half, after the first half went goalless. The home side made use of their one chance, which came far and few between. The game was open when the first goal was scored, but it was Wagner’s men who made use of mistakes in open play.

The equalizer came eight minutes after the opener, and shifted the momentum in the Terriers favour. Action filled, but unable to break down each other’s defences, with Stockdale the hero who kept the Blues in the game. The Birmingham keeper single handedly – kept them in the FA Cup tie.

The final whistle blew for 90 minutes to conclude and the FA Cup tie went into extra time. When saying this – it’s hard to believe the encounter ended four goals to one, with Birmingham on the receiving end.

Extended time started much like the first 90 minutes of the game, with Huddersfield in full control of the game. Wave, after wave – saw them pile on the shots at Stockdale’s goalmouth. Not much the stopper could do, as the amount of goals mounted on him came with great reward for the visiting team.

The St. Andrew’s Stadium was empty and quiet, with no optimism going around. They knew it was over after the display Birmingham put on. In the first half of extra time added – Mounie was on target and shifted all the power to Huddersfield.

The game was in the hands of the visitors and made sure of it, by scoring enough goals to put the game to bed. By the time the game reached the 106-minute mark – it was all over. Three extra goals scored to extend the lead during the extended time, is how the game saw the final stages.

If this was Huddersfield’s game plan – they did well to make it work out, effectively. Well done to Wagner and his men for proving me wrong at The Top Flight – as I predicted them to go out, easily. Fortunately for them, I was way off my prediction.
