Not the first time writing the words – Andy Carroll set to spend some time on the sideline. Reports suggest the striker will be out for about three weeks and leaves the manager to think.
David Moyes has three options with his, not so handy Andy problem;
He could go for a new striker and use this window to incorporate his target man into his resurgent, West Ham. Gives him (the new inclusion) six months to adapt, work well, and be ready for the new season.

Andy Carroll’s hopes of a move to Chelsea are over after picking up an ankle injury ruling him out for 4-6 weeks. Could require surgery which will see him sidelined for up to four months.

The next option he could use Arnautovic, as he’s being doing in recent weeks, with the player playing as the man up front. Swapping between him and Lanzini, which has been working rewardingly, for the Scotsman.
Or, he could add an already existing threat in, Javier Hernandez. A man who was the hero of the final moments and answered back immediately to going a goal down in last weekend’s draw.

Yes, the Mexican has been all out of action and a sight of depression in a Hammers shirt. But, he has the quality to be an outstanding forward, like he was in Germany and for United.
The gem West Ham has sitting on the bench – is beyond belief. Some top-six teams would jump at a Javier thrown at them.
With Andy Carroll out for the rest of the season, he is set to have missed a total of 129 games since joining West Ham.

What I would do if I were Moyes:
The player could be out for the rest of the season, so options are limited – but decisions between now and the end of the transfer window, could be instrumental or, detrimental to the Hammers push.
What I’d do is – get another player in as backup to Hernandez. He should lead the line and the other player coming in, should be equal in quality – to West Ham’s current strikers.
Another attacking blow for West Ham following the news that Marko Arnautovic could miss up to four games after suffering a recurrence of the hamstring injury which has been hampering him in recent weeks. Andy Carroll and Lanzini are also in the Hammers treatment room. #WHUFC

If he fails to build on his goal that helped his team last weekend – the new player could always step in and take over. If anything, both of them could be a hit together and work well in a, 4-4-2 formation, with Lanzini and Arnautovic providing attack and assistance.

Going to be an interesting end to January’s transfer window – which has been busier than most winter windows. If they don’t acquire a new man, they could run a risk of losing another striker to injury and have a bigger problem in difficult campaign.
