Everton news: James McCarthy suffers major injury blow in West Brom clash
A sad day in the English Premier League during the first set of fixtures of Matchday 24. Saturday saw the likes of Everton and West Brom square off inside Goodison Park, but at the cost of one player.
The match was pretty heated between the two clubs and the duel was evenly contested by the players on the pitch. The game ended in a fair result – with the scores even at 1-1. During the second half of action – the Premier League witnessed the worst collision of the campaign.
A coming together between West Brom striker Rondon, and midfielder, James McCarthy – became a fatal blow. For the striker, it was heartbreaking – but for the midfielder, it was season ending. The collision resulted in a broken leg for McCarthy, which left Rondon and tears.
After the two clashed in Everton’s box – Rondon and the rest of the players close by, frantically signalled the match official to put a stop to the game. Players left speechless and one of them in antagonizing pain – were the scenes inside Goodison Park.
The sight of the break was unbearable and was expressed by the player’s emotion while being stretched off the field. No player deserves to go out like that, and it certainly wasn’t needed in a fixture so well contested.

The challenge of the attacker [Rondon], saw McCarthy suffer a double leg break and a sideline seat for the remainder of the season. Depending on the seriousness of the break and how damaging the break was – he could be missing beyond next season.
Sometimes, players never come the same after such a horrific happening, such as this one. Hopefully, he like others we’ve seen this happened to – he’ll come back stronger than before. No return date has been released by the club – but many are in prayers, he will return swiftly.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the player and his family – wishing him a speedy recovery.
