Is Man City okay without a new defender, or is it a smart move by Pep to get another top defender in and see the league out? The latest player to be linked with a move to the Citizen during what seems to be, a busy January window is Harry Maguire.

After making many moves last summer and spending a fortune on a new backline – Man City has been rumoured to be dipping into the market again. The January window has already treated us with the most expensive transfer of 2018 and whether it will be beaten by another club – nobody knows.

Man City has been without then, new signing, Benjamin Mendy who will miss the rest of the season. Another player missing for a large part of the season was John Stones, who’s recently returned – but returned with a bad error leading to a goal in the their FA Cup tie against Burnley. However, they still managed to progress after putting the game to bed 4-1.

Dusty Stones, will improve although, both him and liability Kompany are both high risks. Both players had their injury problems in the past, with the latter spending many hours, days, months, on the sideline. The injury-prone captain, Kompany was the other man out for a chunk of the season. He’s just a risk … period.

Man City cripple into the new year with injuries to, Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus. Because of these key players missing, the worry grows for Pep and his team. In search of new names is the best option for Man City – but it will come at a price if real.

Harry Maguire rumours to Man City:

No more than just a rumour at the moment. Pep’s in need of a backup but it will not come cheap – if the player is Harry Maguire. It’s extremely difficult to prise away a player on a five-year-deal.

Recently joining the Foxes in last year’s summer window, you’d already know there’s no possible way for the transfer to take place. Kompany was missing from the team when they played Burnley. However, there was no need for him, with Stones back and making up for lost time.

Kompany, was a high risk with the player on four yellow cards and could have missed an important semi-final clash in Man City’s Carabao Cup run, through suspension. After winning 4-1, nothing suggests Man City needs any pannick buys and have ample men at the back.

Leicester City will keep their strongest defender till the season ends. Nevertheless, come the summer window and things could change. Defenders are hard to come by and being English, makes him hot priority to any of the top-four, top-six clubs.
