Another team who struggled following a headline grabbing summer spending, West Ham began the season where they left off under Slaven Bilic, struggling for form.

Ultimately, the Croatian’s ineptitude at training and lack of results lead to his demise and the hotly debated hiring of Moyes, whose reputation in England was in tatters following a dismal spell with Sunderland.

However, Moyes began well, securing a positive display against Manchester City, then points against Chelsea and Arsenal to begin his tenure brightly. Since then, his star has waned slightly, with the five man defence (which was so effective early on) leaking goals and disappointing results against Bournemouth and Newcastle leaving them still very much in danger at 16th place.

An encouraging sight has been Moyes’ work in getting the best out of the previously ineffective Marko Arnautovic, who since his appointment has been simply on fire. Early days, but positive signs on show.
