Hired in October, following the dismal start to the Foxes’ season under Craig Shakespeare, Claude Puel has re-invigorated the Leicester squad, who’d been meek and feeble in attack and disastrous in defence prior to his appointment by the 15/16 champions’ Thai owners.

The former Southampton boss has City playing with their old flair again, focusing on the strengths of the instrumental Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, ably supported in attack by Okazaki and Gray.

This new-found confidence has also brought results, with a remarkable upturn in form rocketing Leicester to 8th place and an unlikely European challenge.

Playing with freedom and trickery in possession and organised in defence once more, there is no reason they can’t return to continental competition, if all goes well. Another vindicated managerial replacement.
