Emre Can: 8 out of 10

Can was quite arguably Liverpool’s best midfielder on the pitch today with his overall contributions.  He did look ever so slightly off the pace, but he is still working his way back from an injury that kept him out for a few weeks.  He made a handful of timely interceptions in Liverpool’s half and would immediately look to play the outlet pass to launch counter-attacks after Arsenal had committed numbers forward. This was the type of performance from Can that will certainly give Klopp some thinking to do amidst Can’s contract situation, with rumours suggesting that he’s bound for Juventus to come January.

James Milner (on after 13′ for the injured Jordan Henderson): 7 out of 10

The vice-captain was introduced after 13 minutes when Jordan Henderson pulled up with an apparent hamstring problem.  Milner put it the type of gritty performance that he’s so well-known for; flying into challenges, working diligently on both sides of the ball, and putting his body on the line.  He didn’t quite provide the stability in midfield that Klopp was looking for in quite a frantically paced match, but he stuck to his task well for the most part.

Philippe Coutinho: 8 out of 10

He’s always such an influential, driving force for Liverpool and such was the case at the Emirates.  He was finding pockets of space in between Arsenal’s midfield and back line, exchanging lovely link-up play with his attacking teammates, and was justifiably rewarded for his 40-yard run in the 26th minute to head home Liverpool’s first goal after a slightly fortunate deflection on Salah’s cross.

Mohamed Salah: 8 out of 10

To be fair, Salah did fade in and out of this match, but his blistering pace makes him a constant threat.  All Liverpool have to do to utilize his pace – is play a ball into space for him to run on to, and 8 out of 10 times he’s going to generate a chance on target.  He got slightly lucky with a deflection off of Shkodran Mustafi for his goal, but he did well to create a yard of space for himself to get the shot off and take his tally of league goals to 15.

Sadio Mane: 6.5 out of 10

For the second match in a row, Mane was guilty of perhaps making the wrong decision in front of goal when he blasted his bicycle attempt just over the crossbar in the first half; Salah should have done better with his effort that Petr Cech did quite well to save, but he was wide open on the right-hand side of the box when Mane decided to go for the spectacular.  When he was subbed off in the 80th minute, he did not look happy at all.

Roberto Firmino: 8 out of 10

He was a constant nuisance to Arsenal’s back line when they were trying to play their way out of the back’ it’s one of the reasons Klopp loves him so much – he was a constant handful for Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, and Mustafi.  His point-saving goal in the 71st minute was nothing short of what he deserved for his performance with a terrier-like work rate.
