Four teams fighting for the same position as the English Premier League hits midway. Tottenham, Liverpool, Burnley and Arsenal, are able to take the spot with a point the difference between fourth and seventh place.

After a couple of games ended with a point shared by top teams around the table, the fight for fourth heats up to another level. At the start of Matchday 17 – Burnley shocked the league by moving into fourth spot ahead of all three, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham.

Move on a day and the rest of the fixtures played – Spurs steal the spot off the Clarets ahead of Matchday 18. Burnely’s best and fairy tail season has seen them become the third least conceding (12) in the league after yet another clean sheet.

More from Arsenal

If either, Liverpool or Arsenal, had won their fixtures – it would have seen them take the Champions League spot over Tottenham. Unfortunately, both West Brom and West Ham, have upped their gameplay and have collected points against top sides since their change in managers.

Who do you think will be sitting in Champions League spot at the end of the first round fixtures?

The final weekend of the first half of fixtures takes place over the weekend coming, and the top-four fight appears to be a better battle than the fight for first place – as Man City secures their lead of 11 points after a record-breaking, 15 straight victories.

Man United and Chelsea have their own battle for second and third place yet, any of these other four teams below them can still reach those two positions with a good run of games. The league has shaped to be one of the most competitive, but only for the rest of the Champions League and Europa League positions up for grabs.

Taking a look at these competitors next round of fixtures on Matchday 18 – Spurs have the hardest ask out the lot, but does possess the quality to overcome the deficit. Man City is just not the team to be playing now, well actually anytime.

Burnley has stolen points away from home on a regular occasion, so count them in as a top prospect to take that fourth place spot. Liverpool and Arsenal, well they just need to have their main men hit the target and not squander all their chances they create.
