English Premier League: West Ham faces Chelsea in London Stadium
How will David Moyes and his West Ham do against Chelsea after their near victory against leaders Man City? Not bad by the Scotsman, but nowhere near enough to take one of these top-six clubs out.
Matchday 16 of the English Premier League kicks off with Champions Chelsea heading over to a fruitful Olympic Stadium. Fruitful to most traveling when playing West Ham.
The idea of Chelsea not coming away with a point or more, is hard to digest. They too have shown recent form, losing points only against Liverpool since going down to Roma by three goals in their Champions League run.
West Ham has no change in results after collecting one point from four games since the arrival of the new manager. In the manager’s defense, the fixtures hasn’t fallen too kindly for the Hammers – taking on Everton, Man City and Watford was a big ask.
However, somewhere in there was a crippled Everton, a match they led, and a chance to steal a point. Moyes should be doing better, especially at home in the Olympic Stadium.
West Ham’s last three fixtures:
P | Home | VS | Away | Result |
1st | Man City | 1-2 | West Ham | L |
2nd | Everton | 4-0 | West Ham | L |
3rd | West Ham | 1-1 | Leicester City | D |
Two goals scored in three games and conceding seven shows no adjustment. Moyes needs to play on the back foot and work hard to get a point from this one. Defensive holes sealed up and maybe try to hit Chelsea on the counter.
One or two chances at goal, plus none conceded is the better option. Having a go at Chelsea will be suicide. A clean sheet or a halt in goals being conceded is key. With reports from The Telegraph saying Moyes is ready to drop Joe Hart – is a step in the direction.
The England goalkeeper hasn’t been the needed stopper in between the sticks. The change is a must or the drop is on.
Chelsea Last three fixtures:
P | Home | VS | Away | Result |
1st | Chelsea | 3-0 | Newcastle | W |
2nd | Chelsea | 1-0 | Swansea City | W |
3rd | Liverpool | 1-1 | Chelsea | D |
Five goals and seven points from the final three emphasises on the form Hazard and his teammates have been experiencing in recent weeks. The fight appears to be back and the Stamford Bridge outfit looks to be on the rise with their new system and formation.
Alvaro Morata needs to be careful being on four yellow cards, one away from suspension. Without Diego Costa and only Michy Batshuayi as cover, it will be a massive loss to the Blues.
The predicted score for this encounter:
West Ham | 1-2 | Chelsea |
