One week passes and another manager takes leave from the English Premier League. Everton’s manager, Ronald Koeman gets sacked after 16 months in charge of the Merseyside outfit.

If you’d asked me before the season started, will Ronald Koeman be sacked as Everton’s manager this early on in the campaign, a confident no would have been the answer. Everton sit in 18th place, third from the bottom, before deciding to part ways with the Dutchman.

Sad to see him go but boy, how horrendous was the sight of Everton’s football in these last few appearances? Nothing was going for the manager, the change that saw Rooney move to the midfield before the Gunners’ shooting down of the Toffees, was enough evidence of a manager out of ideas.

Sitting in 18th place, I believe no Evertonian was upset with seeing their 16-month-old manager sacked. However, anybody who’s not faced Everton, are feeling pretty down right now. The Reds obviously sit on top of that list. They were probably savoring the idea of going to a team doing worst than they are.

This goes to show, there’s no rest for any manager and no man’s job is safe in this merciless English Premier League. After the signings to the value of about, £150 million and the signs of a better brand of football during last season’s run, Koeman did not have what it took, to take Everton to the next level.

Who could replace him and be the next Everton manager?

David Moyes has been one of the names mentioned on social media. He would be welcomed to the Blues, but will it be a step in the right direction for the club?

Moyes was renowned for a more robust game, that saw the likes of Marouane Fellaini bully the pitch and prosper under the ex-Blues manager. This type of football is outdated and will not get Everton to where they need to be. Right now, that’s anywhere above 18th place!

Moyes is not a good option and would go down as a step backwards for the Blues. We already have to deal with Tony Pulis in the English Premier League.

The rest of the names who could possibly replace the Dutchman according to the Mirror;

  • Eddie Howe
  • Sean Dyche
  • Chris Coleman
  • David Unsworth
  • Luis Enrique
  • Carlo Ancelotti
  • Laurent Blanc

Realistic candidates verse revolutionary candidates:

Out of the lot, I believe Eddie Howe and David Unsworth are the most realistic. The former, a big Everton fan since a kid and the latter already involved in the youth setup at Goodison Park. These two have a special admiration for the club.

The others who are less likely to become Everton’s managers but would show strong ambition are Ancelotti, Enrique and Blanc. Prestigious managers, who could push Everton on to their next phase. If there was ever another phase for the blues.
