Ronald Koeman for all the things he has done at Southampton and now Everton has to go. While the players might still be fighting for him as shown in the match against Lyon where Ashley Williams had a rumble with Bertrand Traore. The results don’t lie Everton’s in 16th place with 8 points, after 8 games.

Burnley’s in 7th place using a budget that is a quarter of Everton’s. Farhad Moshiri and the board at Everton might publicly have given Koeman his backing but privately there will be grumblings and talks of removing Koeman.

Unlike what happened to Craig Shakespeare, sacking Koeman would be the right decision. Everton have spent a staggering £200 million on players and are relying on Oumar Niasse.

Some of the blame will and should be shifted to Steve Walsh, Director of Football but there can be no doubt that Koeman should take the majority of the blame. Walsh got Koeman the players however inept but Koeman hasn’t got a speck of a game plan.

At the start of the season, after Ronald Koeman sold Lukaku and spent the money on a mass of players, there were dreams at Goodison Park that they could finally crack the Top 4. Now, Everton fans are just hoping this embarrassment of a season can turn into something bearable.

In recent times, Ronald Koeman has refuted suggestions that Everton should be contending for the Top 4 but rather should be contending for the Top 6. Right now, Koeman’s Everton doesn’t look like a Top 6 side but rather a mid-table side.

Koeman was backed by the owners:

Some the players that Koeman bought are technically very good players. Davy Klassen was a midfield maestro and leader at Ajax, now he is a player that seems devoid of confidence while Koeman’s top transfer target Gyilfi Sigurdsson looks frustrated whenever he seems to lack options to pass to.

The problem is that Koeman invested into the future too much Nikola Vlasic and Sandro Ramirez however talented are players for the future. What Everton needed were players to supplement the existing core of players such as Jagielka and Baines.

The Wayne Rooney reunion looked sweet and genius-like when he scored on his second Everton debut but as the season rolls on it look tacky because simply Wayne Rooney isn’t the man to temporarily replace Lukaku, he lacks the pace and the strength of Lukaku.

Koeman has not really addressed the elephant in the room, how does Everton replace Romelu Lukaku? It is a question that must be addressed immediately and accurately because as Everton can see now, they lack a target and a threat to opposition teams.

The question for the Everton board is not if they sack Koeman but when they sack Koeman, should they sack him midseason it could either leave the players in a lurch or they could bounce back, another option would be to wait until the end of the season for stability but face even worst results. These decisions are  hard decisions to make but its one the board will have to make soon
