Down and down they stay. Crystal Palace shows exactly what to do stay at the bottom of the table. Is it just bad luck for Palace to have faced Man City or are they the first team who are sure to be relegated come 2018?

Poor Roy has pretty much been thrown in the deep end with no signs of a way out. Palace has been the only club powerless and unable to put a goal or point on the scoreboard after week 6.

The London club, having to face the most inform team at the moment Man City, was not what Roy ordered for a Palace resurgent. The job left by Frank de Boer appears to be ten times the task made out to be initially.

Last season’s ugly fight to stay up was led by Big Sam and defender Sakho. This season the only difference is the manager, who we can’t argue, has a decent CV and could be the one to help keep them up. But what’s on show running into week 7 of the EPL is far from Premier League quality.

More from Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace has a lot of preying to do and many tactics to chance if they are to come anywhere close to points. It will take them six to nine points to get out of the drop zone. Baring nobody else wins around the drop zone

How they go about their business will be determined by how difficult the lineup of matches they have coming up.

Roy Hodgson’s comments after the game:

"“I did not walk in here as Christian Gross did once and say, ‘I’ve come on the train’,”.“It was a squad of players we had to assess, organise, work out which ones going forward would be the ones that could help us out.“Going forward, I’ll have a much better idea of the playing personnel, and that’s a very important factor.“That was an important part at Fulham: looking at the playing personnel, working out a) who’s going to be good enough on the field and b) who’s going to be really ready to roll their sleeves up and die for us in this cause because we’re not doing to well. That’ll be the main thing.“I still think we will be okay, and we’ll work to be okay, and this group of players will follow me and follow the others to make sure we’re okay.“But it won’t be by the end of October, possibly — it might be quite a long way forward.“Don’t forget at Fulham we got out of the relegation zone on the very, very last game of the season with a win at Portsmouth, so we lived with that hanging over our heads for a very long time, and we were greatly helped by the fans.”"
