Good news keeps coming in the Premier League. Good news for some but bad news for others. It’s said Virgil van Dijk might make an important start for the Saints.

No surprise to see this man’s name back in the English Premier League. Virgil van Dijk another man held to his contract needs to make a return to action.

The biggest outcast following this transfer window is van Dijk. Making a statement publicly that his desire was to leave before the summer window closed, was met with no sympathy.

Since then, the defender has been in recovery and playing his trade in the reserve side. While doing so, the all important player bagged a goal and appears to return to form quiet fashionably.

According to Sky Sports, Saint’s manager, Mauricio Pellegrino agrees the man is needed in his team ahead of a tough fixture. However, he will be leaving it till late to decide whether or not to bring him in to the starting eleven.

"“After a long period of time without playing a game now he is training well, and it’s good news for us because we need Virgil like every single player in our squad.“Virgil is an important player for us. I think every single week he will improve, but at the same time he needs to play, he needs to train“The best training session for me is to play games. Now he is playing in the reserves and he is training well.”"

Without Virgil van Dyk this season:

Games Played:5
Games Won:2
Games Lost:1
Games Drawn:2
Goals Scored:4
Goaled Conceded:4
Points after 5 games:8

Southampton was also beaten by Wolves in the second round of the Carabao Cup and took an early exit.

Saints capped off a win that was tight but well deserved away from home against Crystal Palace. The home side was rejuvenated with a new manager[Roy Hodgson] after their other new manager, Frank de Boer was sacked.

Mauricio Pellegrino and his men endured a stuttering start to their new campaign. Leaking in goals and having a tough time staying out the referee’s book.
