Even with the transfer window closed business continues for some. Chelsea and Atletico Madrid meet and see a deal through for Diego Costa.

The out-of-favour striker Diego Costa, gets a move to his preferred club Atletico after a long time of missing from action. Costa was basically decriminalised as a football player in his own mind.

BCC football reported the two clubs have reached an agreement for the player and is subject to a medical. After all matters are tired up, he will only join up with the club in January when the club completes their transfer banned.

It was one sour affair but in all honestly, when is it not with this Spanish Brazilian.

A man after he’s own happiness is Costa. Feeling unwelcome since the day he joined from Spain, the Spanish striker was always in search of a way across the border.

Diego Costa’s numbers in a Chelsea shirt:

Since joining Chelsea:
Appearances [League]83
Goals Scored [League]52
Appearances [Other Competitions]19
Goals Scored [Other Competitions]6

Costa has done everything in his power to make a move materialise but all failed. After a change of managers from ex-blues boss Jose Mourinho to Antonio Conte, it was sure he would be on his way out.

The window closed down, strategies changed, and Conte opted to deal with the bully to the end of the season. This led to them winning a Premier League title together. Amazing stuff in my book.

After the fairy tail start to Conte’s life in the Premier League things were set out pretty much the same for Costa. The manager wanted the striker out of Chelsea and the frontman was not in disagreement. The feeling was mutual between the two.

The best news ever for three parties:

Costa, who hasn’t featured once this season ahead of the World Cup, needed this solution to be found. This is an important time for players able to make the cut for their country.

The question is, will January see enough time for him to break into a Spain team firing on all cylinders, during the qualification round? Will Atletico be in the position to help the bad boy out in his quest?

On the flip side of the transfer, Chelsea will be missing a massive asset to their team without the big forward. He flourished with players such as Hazard, Willian, and others. His goal telly doesn’t lie and he always managed to pop up in the right places at the right time.

This is the best move for him and the clubs involved, and it’s about time the move happens. Good luck to a great striker that has all the attributes to suit his new club, who were a band away from signing him during the transfer window.
