Before the weekend’s fixtures of week 4 kicked off, there was more than one manager on the ropes. Unfortunately, of those managers Frank de Boer was the first manager of the lot who saw the exit door.

Frank only lasted 77 days at Crystal Palace. The only glimpse of success was their triumph over Championship side, Ipswich Town in the second round of the Football League Cup.

Other than this cup victory, Palace lost all of their opening league fixtures since the start of the new season. Both home and away the team was below expectation and far from showing good form.

De Boer was a manager set for greatness before this. He led Dutch powerhouses Ajax, to four consecutive Eredivisie titles. Something he can gladly put at the summit of his achievements in his managerial career.

However, after leaving his safe zone, de Boer has only seen unsuccessful spells at two different clubs.
