After last weekend’s home defeat, manager Pochettino adds to his defence in the market. Spurs welcome goalkeeper, Gazzaniga and defender, Sanchez!

Normally a side hard to breakdown in defence, Spurs were outdone by a determined Chelsea. After leaking two goals, the manager seeked to tweek his squad depth in areas needing attention.

The club has been slow in the market this season and have made these two signings their first of the window. But how we know Mauricio Pochettino, he barely rushes in the market.

Spurs failed when coming to European competition last season with quality in depth. Adding another keeper and defender to the team is smart business by Spurs.

Without a doubt, Spurs have a starting eleven capable of taking the Premier League title but, cannot maintain a side playing on all fronts and in every competition.

Mauricio and his men are need of more than just the two players added, if they are to challenge in Europe this season. We down to about seven days in the transfer window, would be surprised if Spurs do not add another after this.

Spurs New Goalkeeper:

According to the Sun, Spurs have signed Southampton’s keeper, Paulo Gazzaniga on a five-year deal.

At 25-years-old, he suits the profile of a Spurs player. Spurs already have the likes of Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm in the ranks. He will add another level of competition to the keeper department.

There will be over enough games to played, if he does well enough we could see him ahead of Vorm, who is a good age of 33-years-old now.

Gazzaniga can be very thankful he gets to learn his trade under two fantastic goalkeepers. He should slot in perfectly when the time is right.

Spurs record signing – defender Davinson Sanchez:

Spurs are undoubtedly in a lot of hot water when it comes to defenders. Losing their first choice right back to rivals, Man City and, continuing to have problems with main centre back, Toby Alderweireld.

Spurs are late to be dipping into the market but have finally added a player they are in need of. There was no questioning Sanchez arrival, as the player made it noticeably clear, he wanted to join the London club. Thankfully, it’s happen sooner rather than later.

Sanchez is Spurs second signing in a matter of days, and beats their previous transfer high of £30 million. Sanchez becomes Spurs most expensive transfer to date at, £42 million.

Another smart piece of business for a player with a lot of experience at his age. Will be interesting to see if he slides into the first team or does he wait for space. The backline’s in jeopardy and this is a start to sorting out problems at the back.
