David Wagner and Huddersfield were given no chance of Premier League survival. Look where they are now after a brilliant start to what could be a great first season.

Four goals and six points collected from their first two fixtures, Huddersfield sits in second place on the table and gives them hope above the many doubters. Huddersfield could not have asked for a better start to life in the Premier League.

Before the campaign kicked off, the football world gave this small club no chance of making it. A team with a kitty that’s a fraction in size compared to what other Premier League clubs have on hand. Normally the downfall when these smaller clubs get promoted to the EPL.

If anything, people should stop rating these smaller clubs on the size of their pockets. We’ve seen some clubs come up and have the deepest pockets in the league, yet they failed terribly. Queens Park Rangers being one of those teams.

Clubs who worked in different ways and without having the big monetary influence, have actually survived quiet long. Sticking to their guns and acquiring underground gems from places unheard of, appears to work perfectly for them.

Teams such as Burnley and Bournemouth, are two clubs who know exactly what it takes to survive in this cut-throat league. Both clubs have made it without having big money to sign world-class players. Should be a sign to others, stop judging a book by its cover.

Never under mind the opposition:

They’ve already pulled wins over Palace and New Castle in their first two fixtures. On opening day, Wagner and his men took on a Palace who were recently taken over by Frank de Boer. A manager who’s been struggling to find some sort of results, after his miserable showing at previous club, Inter Malin.

Palace being the home team, were given the benefit of the doubt and were favourites to win. Sadly for de Boer and Palace, they were no match for debut hero, Steve Mounié. A player who had an outstanding showing on his Premier League debut.

This weekend past, they played a New Castle side under a lot of criticism from the manager, Rafael Benítez.  He feels the team is not strong enough to play in the Premier League and after this weekend’s result, he could be on to something.

The two met yesterday at the Kirklees stadium in Wagner’s first home fixture. They followed up their dream start with a win over a side with tons of Premier League experience, New Castle. Another fixture the boss and his boys put the critics to bed.

David Wagner is a manager who’s worked closely with Liverpool manager, Klopp. The two enjoyed a great spell together at German club, BVB. It would be a joke to under mind this man and his team.

In his first season at the helm, people forget he was the person who brought them to the Premier League. Yes there are many games to be played until the league concludes, but having such a great start to top flight football, gives Wagner and his team reason to be optimistic.

Perhaps reason to be more than optimistic and know they have every chance at survival, when taking other teams in consideration. They’ve afforded themselves a better start compared to other clubs who will fight the drop. They have every opportunity to stay in the big leagues after this promising start.

Huddersfield next set of fixtures:

This week will be a test for smaller teams like Huddersfield. Having more than one fixtures this week, will test the depths of the smaller teams.

The Terriers next fixture will be mid week against League One outfit, Rotherham in the Football League Cup, second round.

Following their cup encounter, they go up against Southampton on Saturday. This will be a big test yes, but also a time they can state a claim. This will let all the clubs know the size of the club is not a major concern and they can beat anybody on their day.
