Van Dijk saga continues – Is he Liverpool bound?
As if anything was straight forward in this transfer window for Liverpool and their targets, Virgil van Dijk’s tale to the Reds might have taken another twist.
Van Dijk is doing everything in his power to get his deal to the Reds done. Although, Southampton are making it the most tasteless piece of business to date and will drag it out to the very end.
Excluded from training, missing for the photo shoot, and AGAIN, refusing to play for Mauricio Pellegrino in their final showdown talks.
The Saint’s have shown how important Van Dijk is to the club by the firm stance taken over him.
Not sure if many people can say, it’s more a matter of when anymore, but more, if it will conclude in favour of LFC?
According to the Independent, manager Mauricio Pellegrino has restated the defender’s appetite to move on.
In saying this, the manager in return has repeated the Saint’s desire to keep him at the club.
As this saga continues, all parties are being heavily affected by the bad business taking place. Coming out of injury, the player himself will need a number of minutes on the pitch before being fully fit.
Another aspect which took shape as early as yesterday was Saints smashing by FC Augsburg, 0-4.
Whereas suitors Liverpool took their final game of the Audi Cup to the wire, resulting in a loss to Atletico in penalties.
Where to now for?
Liverpool hasn’t really been fishing in any other ponds for plan B or C. To think the Red’s had ever pulled out of this deal, would be classified, naive.
Southampton is about to lose their star player and have every right to play hardball with LFC.
Unfortunately, with every moment wasted, they damage their reputation of their club, as well as, narrow their chances of replacing the position.
In Virgil’s case, he needs to be playing and rightfully so at the highest level. Is it really a sin of Klopp’s, Liverpool thrive off the players they acquire? Business is business at the end of the day.
There is still plenty of time in the window left to do business, despite the fact that the season starts in no more than a week from now.
Depth and defence are two important aspects Klopp and the club has to improve and Van Dijk assist in both fields.
