Premier League predictions: Picks for Chelsea-Manchester United, all weekend games
Another weekend of Premier League action awaits, highlighted with Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge. Who wins this week?
There are some big games on the horizon this week. Champions Leicester look to get back on track against Crystal Palace, while Spurs aim to remain unbeaten at Bournemouth.
Let’s dive right into this week’s predictions.
Bournemouth vs. Tottenham
The Cherries are in good form and put six past Hull last week. This is a different proposition for Bournemouth, however, as unbeaten Spurs arrive on the South Coast. Tottenham are too strong and pick up the three points.
Prediction: Bournemouth 0-3 Tottenham
Arsenal vs. Middlesbrough
Arsenal don’t often slip-up at home, and they breeze past a Boro team that has lost four of its last five games.
Prediction: Arsenal 4-1 Middlesbrough
Burnley vs. Everton
Everton is without a win in their past three, but they did earn a tough point at Man City last week. Expect them to get back to winning ways against Burnley.
Prediction: Burnley 0-1 Everton
Hull vs. Stoke
Stoke finally got their first victory of the season last week, while Hull have now lost four on the bounce and five of their past six. Stoke will be favorites, but they are held to a point, one that stops Hull’s plummet.
Prediction: Hull 2-2 Stoke
Leicester vs. Crystal Palace
The Foxes have already lost more games (four) in their opening eight this year than they did all of last season (three). Their bubble has well and truly burst in the Premier League, but they have won all three of their Champions League games. The Foxes aim to get back on track in the league, but they are held by Palace.
Prediction: Leicester 1-1 Crystal Palace
Swansea vs. Watford
Swansea have lost six of their past seven games and are without a win since opening day. Despite being at home, they fall to another defeat.
Prediction: Swansea 0-2 Watford
West Ham vs. Sunderland
West Ham have struggled inside their new stadium to date, but they have an opportunity to get on track against a win-less Sunderland team. The Hammers get a much-needed win.
Prediction: West Ham 2-0 Sunderland
Liverpool vs. West Brom
Liverpool are a fun team to watch. Defensively they don’t have much to write home about, but in front of goal they are deadly, averaging over two goals per game. West Brom are tough to breakdown, but the Reds take it at home.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 West Brom
Manchester City vs. Southampton (Sunday)
Southampton own the league’s third-best defensive record after eight games, and they play Man City at a good time. Pep’s side has failed to win any of its past four games in all competitions. Despite that, City edge it at home.
Prediction: Man City 1-0 Southampton
Chelsea vs. Manchester United (Sunday)
Jose Mourinho will want an uneventful return to Stamford Bridge. Expect similar tactics to what we saw at Anfield on Monday night. Mourinho doesn’t want to lose, and he’ll set his team up to defend.
Prediction: Chelsea 0-0 Man United
