Central Midfield

Santi Cazorla is the first of two central midfield players. Cazorla is out of contract at Arsenal and confirmed recently that he is yet to be offered a new deal. The Spaniard has been an incredible signing for the Gunners since joining the club back in 2012.

Back then, Cazorla could play anywhere across midfield. Now, the 31-year-old tends to just play centrally. However, with the current competition at Arsenal, it’s going to be tough to get into Arsene Wenger’s midfield. Not to mention earn a new contract.

In this team, Cazorla is joined in midfield by another player from one of the top Premier League teams: Fernandinho. The Brazilian has been absolutely fantastic so far for Pep Guardiola. One of City’s best players, no question.

So, given Fernandinho’s form last season and the start of this, it’s difficult to see City letting him go. Unless he himself wants to move, that is. And he is still scheduled to be a free agent as things stand.

So it’s an easy decision to pair Fernandinho and Cazorla together in this XI. Though the competition was surprisingly strong in the midfield area.

Make sure you catch the notable mentions at the end to see why.
