The 2016-17 Premier League season could be the last for these players at their current club.

The new Premier League season is only just hitting its stride. The new signings have barely bedded themselves in. But already eyes are turning towards the January transfer window and some of the potential free agents that could be available either then or in the summer.

From January, players with expiring contracts can negotiate a free agency move ahead of schedule with clubs outside of the Premier League. Although, there is of course still time for some of these players to re-sign with their current clubs.

Usually free agents tend to be players who are unwanted. The list gets filled up with veterans coming towards the end of their career, injury prone players or players in their mid-20s who never made it to the level they should have.

But there are also some big names that sometimes purposely bide their time with the intention of moving on a free transfer. There can be some shrewd business to be done if you look closely enough.

Just last summer Manchester United picked up Zlatan Ibrahimovich, Crystal Palace snapped up goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, Liverpool signed Joel Matip and Southampton brought in Gaston Ramirez.

Given the names currently scheduled to be free agents in summer 2017, there will be a keen eye on this year’s list of potential free transfers. The list is surprisingly stacked. So much so, you can put a decent starting XI together out of it.

Take a look.
